Easy Alabama Firecracker Recipe

Here’s an easy recipe for Alabama Firecrackers, a deliciously spicy snack made with saltine crackers, ranch seasoning, red pepper flakes, and other ingredients. These crackers are perfect for parties or as a spicy snack!

Ingredients:

  • 1 sleeve of saltine crackers (about 40-45 crackers)
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (about 1 oz)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (or canola oil)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spiciness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the crackers:
    • Lay the saltine crackers flat in a large mixing bowl or a gallon-size zip-top bag.
  2. Mix the seasoning:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the ranch seasoning mix, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), and vegetable oil.
  3. Coat the crackers:
    • Pour the seasoning mixture over the crackers. Gently toss to coat the crackers evenly. If using a zip-top bag, seal the bag and shake it until the crackers are well-coated.
  4. Let them sit:
    • Allow the crackers to sit for at least 2 hours, or overnight, for the flavors to soak in. Shake or toss them every 30 minutes to make sure all the crackers get coated with the seasoning.
  5. Serve:
    • Once the crackers are fully coated and the seasoning has soaked in, serve and enjoy!

Tips:

  • You can store the Alabama Firecrackers in an airtight container for up to a week.
  • For even more flavor, you can add a bit of dill or Parmesan cheese to the mix.
  • Adjust the spice level to your liking by adding more or less red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper.
